Make Sure to Separate Trash from Recyclables.
During the month of October, a CR&R Recycling Coordinator performed waste inspections on about 200, residential black trash containers and found that nearly 30% of the material was delievered straight to the landfill to be buried rather than turned into something useful. Your community recycling program will be successful if we all take the time to participate by separating trash from recyclables and placing them in the appropriate containers. The following are materials that may be placed in your brown or blue recycle barrel:
- Paper: Plastics. Junk Mail. Magazines. Phonebooks. Ceareal Boxes. Books. Newspapers. Computer Paper. White Paper. Colored Paper.
-Plastics: Beverage bottles. Detergent containers. Kitchen and Bath Containers. Milk containers. Dry Cleaning/Shirt/Shopping Bags. Clothes hangers. Laundry Tubs.
-Metal: Empty Aerosol Cans. Aluminum cans. Tin cans. Food/Juice Cans. Empty Paint cans (dry paint is okay). Aluminum foil. Scrap Metals.
-Glass: Glass bottles. Jars.
-Textiles: Clothing/Shoes. Linens. Towels. Sheets. Blankets.
