In an article by Jeff Collins at the Orange County Register, property tax tardiness continues to swell here, according to the latest figures from the Orange County Treasurer-Tax Collector’s office.

As of may 29, 52,297 Orange County Property owners had missed deadlines to make their 2006-07 tax payments, owing $160 million.

That’s 3.8% of the nearly $4.2 billion of taxes owed, the highest delinquency rate in 11 years, said Treasurer-Tax Collector Chriss Street.

Nearly 5.5% of payments due in April were delinquent, with property owners still owing $114 million for their second installments.
